5 Fun Activities to Celebrate the 4th for Ages 0-5!

The 4th of July is just around the corner, and we're excited to share some super fun and exciting activities to celebrate this patriotic holiday with your little ones. These activities are perfect for ages 0-5 and are sure to bring joy and laughter to your home. Let's get ready for a star-spangled celebration!

1. Patriotic Sensory Bins (ages 0-5)

Create a red, white, and blue sensory bin that will captivate your child's senses and imagination! Fill a bin with items like rice dyed in patriotic colors, star-shaped confetti, small American flags, and plastic scoops. Watch as your little explorers dive in and enjoy the textures and colors. For our tiniest tots, just watching the colors and feeling the textures is a great experience.

Materials Needed:

  • Rice (dyed with food coloring)

  • Star-shaped confetti

  • Small American flags

  • Plastic scoops and cups

2. Fireworks Painting (ages 0-5)

Let’s get crafty with some fireworks painting! Use toilet paper rolls cut into fringe, dip them into red, white, and blue paint, and stamp them onto paper to create beautiful firework art. This activity is perfect for little hands and helps develop fine motor skills. *For a mess free experience you can put the paint colors in a bag for infants to shake!

Materials Needed:

  • Toilet paper rolls (cut into fringe)

  • Red, white, and blue paint

  • Paper

3. Red, White, and Blue Fruit Kabobs (ages 1-5)

Create a healthy and festive treat with red, white, and blue fruit kabobs. Use strawberries, blueberries, and bananas to make colorful and delicious kabobs that your little ones will love. This is a great way to introduce them to new fruits and enjoy a tasty snack together. *For infant enjoyment, you may cut fruit baby lead weaning style for them to indulge on.

Materials Needed:

  • Strawberries

  • Blueberries

  • Bananas

  • Wooden skewers (or plastic straws for a safer option)

4. Patriotic Tummy Time (Newborns/Infants)

For our tiniest patriots, set up a special 4th of July-themed tummy time! Lay out a soft blanket with red, white, and blue toys and objects for your baby to explore. You can include items like small, soft star pillows, patriotic rattles, and textured fabrics. This activity helps with sensory development and makes tummy time more enjoyable.

Materials Needed:

  • Soft blanket

  • Red, white, and blue toys and objects

  • Small, soft star pillows

  • Patriotic rattles

  • Textured fabrics

5. Sparkler-Free Fireworks Show (Ages 0-5)

For a safe and exciting fireworks experience, try a sparkler-free fireworks show! Use glow sticks or LED light wands to create a magical light show in your backyard. Turn on some music and let your little ones dance around with their glowing "sparklers." This is a great way to enjoy the fireworks spirit without any risk. *Infants can enjoy the sound of music and exploring the glow sticks!

Materials Needed:

  • Glow sticks or LED light wands

  • Music

  • Groovy Moves (yes, parents too)

We hope these activities bring as much joy to your home as they do to ours. Have a fantastic and safe 4th of July celebration with your little ones!
